As I prepared for the beginning of this new school year, I thought to myself, "Self, what new exciting project would you like to begin?"
Little did I know that the answer to that question would be starting my own blog. So for those of you who are reading what I post, I simply say thank you for embarking on this new journey with me. For those of us who love to read the works of others, trying to find words that will excite, inspire and encourage can be a daunting task. Yet, it is so important that we escape from our comfort zones and leap into the unknown.
With this thought, I will simply use the words of Dr. Eileen Wilson-Oyeleran, the President of Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan, who reminded the graduates of the Class of 2013 to, "Refrain from being servants of what is and embrace what might be!" A seemingly simple statement, but one that encourages us to use our creativity to bring about a change in the world, to make a difference no matter how far out of the box we decide to go.
This blog is my out of the box experience. In the coming posts I hope to find words that will excite, inspire and encourage you to think, imagine, and to spur you on to make a difference. At times you may agree or even disagree with what I write. But I encourage you to share your thoughts because as Dr. Ben Carson once said. “Disagreement is part of being a person who has choices. One of those choices is to respect others and engage in intelligent conversation about differences of opinion without becoming enemies, eventually allowing us to move forward to compromise.” Moving forward can only begin when the first step is taken. So...walk with me......
